How do I create a Member Benefit?

Members aren’t the only ones capable of posting benefits. If needed, it’s possible for administrators to do so on their behalf. Here’s how:
- From your administrator dashboard, hover over ‘Modules ‘ in the top toolbar. Then, from the dropdown that follows, hover over 'Member Benefits' then click 'Post New Benefits'
- Using the search bar, find and select the contact you would like to create the Member Benefit on behalf of.
- Selecting a contact will fill your screen with fields you can complete to create your Member Benefit. Start by filling in your post details under the first section, ‘Part 1 – Details’.
- To complete your clients post, select the channels you would like them to receive benefit applications by, if they would like to receive applications. Clicking any of these options will produce more fields allowing you to specify an email address or website URL.
- When done, click ‘ Save’ , and ‘Confirm’ in the dialogue that opens.

Can I reactivate an expired Member Benefit?
When would I use this? Use this when a previously posted benefit has reached its configured duration.
Before you begin: An expired benefit cannot be reactivated; create a new post for the current offer.
Steps in Member365:
- Open Modules → Member Benefits → Post New Benefits.
- Choose the contact on whose behalf the benefit is posted, then enter its current details.
- Select any application or contact channels and click Save, then Confirm.
- For future posts, review Configuration → Member Benefits → Setup → Post Duration and save a suitable duration.
Expected result: A newly posted benefit is available for its new term; changing duration does not restore an already expired one.
Test before going live: Preview the new post and verify its contact method before sharing it.
After changing the default duration: For an active benefit created before the change, open that benefit and click Save again to apply the new duration. This does not restore an expired benefit. Choose a reasonable duration and test one benefit first; an excessively large duration has prevented new benefits from saving in a support case.
What happens next? Review the benefit again before its next expiration.

Why do I have to select a contact when posting a Member Benefit?
When would I use this? Use this when an administrator posts a benefit on behalf of the organization or a member.
Before you begin: Every benefit is associated with a contact. Choose the person responsible for the offer and check the application or contact channels before saving.
Steps in Member365:
- Open Modules → Member Benefits → Post New Benefits.
- Search for and select the contact on whose behalf the benefit is posted. If an outside party will not manage it in the portal, an administrator can use their own contact record.
- Complete the benefit details, choose the contact channels, then click Save and Confirm.
Expected result: The post is linked to the selected contact; review its displayed details and contact method.
Can I restrict Member Benefits to a saved contact list?
When would I use this? Use this when an offer should be visible only to selected contacts from a List Builder list.
Before you begin: Member Benefits do not have list-based access control. Benefits are visible to members by default, with a setting for whether non-members can see them.
Steps in Member365:
- Review the Member Benefits visibility setting for non-members under Configuration → Member Benefits → Setup.
- If the offer must be limited to a particular list, choose a different delivery method rather than treating a mailing list as an access restriction.
Expected result: A saved list can help target communication, but it will not limit who can open the benefit.
Can I show different Member Benefits to different membership categories?
When would I use this? Use this when one benefit code is intended for students and another for all other members.
Member Benefits cannot currently be restricted or customized by membership category. Benefits you publish are visible across membership categories.
Steps in Member365:
- If both offers may be visible to everyone, make the eligibility clear in a single benefit description or in two separately named benefits.
- Do not place a category-specific code in a visible benefit if the code itself must remain private to that category.
- Use a different controlled delivery method for an offer that needs actual access restrictions.
Expected result: The benefit wording can explain eligibility, while the visibility remains shared across categories.
Test before going live: Preview with accounts from two categories before publishing an offer.
