How to Configure and Download Donor Badges

This article explains how administrators configure fundraising donor badges and how eligible contacts download them.

When would I use this?

Use donor badges to recognize contacts who reach configured donation levels. Administrators can download an eligible contact’s badge from the CRM, and eligible members can download their own badge from the Member Portal.

Prerequisites

  • You have permission to manage Fundraising settings.
  • At least one badge level has a name, donation range, and image.
  • Show badge on contact is enabled.
  • The contact has a paid donation within the configured counting period and qualifies for a badge level.

Configure donor badge levels

  1. From the Administrator Dashboard, open Fundraising > Manage Badge.
  2. Choose the donation-counting period used to determine eligibility.
  3. Enable Show badge on contact.
  4. Add or edit each badge level, including its name, starting amount, ending amount, and badge image.
  5. Save the settings, then test with a contact whose paid donations fall within one of the configured ranges.

Download a badge from the CRM

  1. Open the qualifying contact’s CRM record.
  2. In the contact photo area, hover over the DONOR ribbon.
  3. When the tooltip says Click to Download Donor Badge, select the ribbon.

Expected result: Member365 downloads a PNG using the contact’s highest earned badge level and adds the contact’s full name to the image.

Download a badge from the Member Portal

  1. The member signs in to the Member Portal and opens My Profile.
  2. Select My Donor Badge.
  3. Review earned and locked badge levels.
  4. Select Download Badge on an earned level.

Expected result: Earned levels appear in full colour with a download option. Locked levels are greyed out and show the additional donation amount needed. Members can download only their own earned badge.

Confirmed limits

  • When Show badge on contact is off, CRM badge downloads are disabled and the Member Portal tab is hidden.
  • Unpaid or deleted donations do not qualify.
  • Only donations inside the configured counting period are included.
  • CRM users need permission to view the contact record. Portal members cannot download another contact’s badge.
  • The downloaded file uses the highest badge level the contact has earned.

Troubleshooting

  • If the DONOR ribbon is not clickable, confirm the setting is enabled, the contact has a paid qualifying donation, and the badge level has an image.
  • If My Donor Badge is missing, confirm the signed-in member qualifies for at least one level.
  • If a level is unexpectedly locked, verify the counting period and the level’s starting amount.
  • If the downloaded image is missing or incorrect, verify the image saved on the earned level and contact Support with the contact, level, and counting period.
