You have created an event with a certificate attached, so that anyone who attended the event receives a certificate confirming their attendance. This article is intended to ensure you have the event configured correctly so that those certificates will be emailed automatically.
Confirm your event is set up to automatically email certificates
Go to Events > Manage Events
Find the event that you are looking to edit. Click to edit your event.
Click on "Registration" tab.
Scroll down to "Certificates"
Next to Event Certificate(s):
- Choose the certificate(s) that pertain(s) to the event
Next to "Email certificate(s) when guest is marked as attended?"
- Make sure it is toggled to green
- For the certificates to be sent automatically, this toggle needs to be turned on
Then, configure the email that the certificate will be sent with by clicking 'Mange' next to 'Email Template'
You can then edit the email accordingly in the window that pops up. Click 'Save' to save your changes to this email.
Important Note
Event certificates are emailed automatically the day after an event concludes to all ticket holders who are marked as attended.
If a ticket is unassigned, there will be no one for the system to be marked as attended. To ensure there are no 'unassigned tickets' in your ticket settings, choose 'Limit ticket to Purchaser' (if people can only register themselves for the event) OR 'Force Ticket Assignment'. The former will automatically assign the ticket to the purchaser while the latter will not let the registrant proceed to check out until all tickets are assigned to someone.
If you are assuming everyone who registers for the event is attending, you can set the 'Attended By Default' toggle to green. If, however, you will be marking attendance at the event, you will need to either manually mark attendees as attended (during or after the event) OR, import attendance.
Don't forget to hit 'Publish' to save your changes to the event configuration.
Congratulations!! You have emailed your event certificate to your members!
