How to Set Up Automated Recurring Billing (ARB) for Membership Dues

Enabling Automated Recurring Billing is one of the strongest techniques available to create a sustainable improvement to membership renewal rates, and Member365 makes it easy.

Here’s how to do it:

***IMPORTANT NOTE: To enable ARB for all your Members, be sure to repeat the steps below for every Membership Category.***
***IMPORTANT NOTE: You should NOT use ARB for fee categories or unit calculator type memberships. It is intended to work only on flat-fee memberships.***
Automated Recurring Billing (ARB) is only available with selected Payment gateways. Click here to learn more.

Accessing Membership Categories

1. From the Member365 Administrator Dashboard, hover over ‘Membership’ on the bar at the top of the screen, and select ‘Category Setup’ in the dropdown menu.

5. Scroll down to the 'Automated Recurring Billing' section.

6. In this section, toggle the ‘Do you want to enable Automated Recurring Billing‘ to 'YES' (blue).

When you move this toggle to 'YES' (so it is highlighted in blue, and the 'NO' is grey), this will give you the ability to change some optional settings.

Optional Steps

When can Members opt-in to automated recurring billing (ARB)? — If the "FOR NEW APPLICATIONS" or "FOR RENEWING MEMBERS" button is blue, Members will be able to opt in during application or renewal, respectively. If those buttons are grey, Members will not be provided with the opportunity to opt in to ARB at that time.

Do you want to enforce Automated Recurring Billing? — If 'NO' is selected (blue), Members will have the option to opt-in to ARB, but they do not need to.

If 'YES' is selected for the 'Do you want to enforce Automated Recurring Billing?', Members will be opted in to automated recurring billing by default...

But, you can give Members the ability to opt-out of automated recurring billing by selecting 'YES' in the 'Do you want to allow members to opt-out of enforced ARB?' toggle.

If you do not want Members to be able to opt-out of ARB, select 'NO' in the 'Do you want to allow members to opt-out of enforced ARB?' toggle. Note that this means all members will be forced to agree to automated recurring billing. If they do not agree to ARB, they will not be able to receive membership in this category.
